When we begin to pray, we can sometimes wonder “what is the will of God?”. Confusion can cause us to waver in our belief or to stumble over our words when we come to God in prayer. We lack belief because we do not know the will of God. When we come to God in prayer we must know His will in order for our faith (belief in His Word) to be unwavering.
He told us clearly in His Word;
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. – James 1:6
When we come to God in faith (believing His Word), we can receive all that He has promised us. We receive the moment we believe. We speak our belief when we come to God in prayer by giving thanks to Him for providing for us through answering our prayer. This is what is called praying in faith;
And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. – Matthew 21:22
As His children, we should expect answers to our prayers. He is a good father and wants His children to flourish and not suffer. He is the creator of all things and wants His children to live in the abundance He has created. He is a loving God and wants His children to know His love.
Will God answer Your prayer?
Perhaps you are asking for something you want. Maybe you are praying for something you have lost. You might have a need so great, it seems impossible for God to answer your prayer. The Truth is this: when you know the will of God, you can (and will) receive answers to your prayers – however outrageous or incredible they may seem to YOU!
For with God nothing shall be impossible. – Luke 1:37
So, what is the will of God?
The will of God is contained within The Holy Bible
The will of God is hidden within the scriptures of The Holy Bible; not hidden from us – but for us. When we study The Bible (King James version in English) we will uncover some of the many promises God has made.
The promise of God is His Word and He will not (and cannot) go back on His Word. Study the scriptures and you will know what is promised to you through His Word and His teaching. You will know His nature, His character, and His will.
The Scriptures containing God’s Word give us the key to unlock promises of;
- and many more…
To know God’s will, we must know His Word. There is no shortcut! There is only one way to know God’s Will: Study His Word!
God’s Will is written within His Word
As well as God’s promises to provide for us in all things; His Word also tells us what He wants from us. His teaching is clear – He shows us what He expects from us and tells us what we can expect from Him (by and in return for our obedience).
God tells us;
- That we should study His Word to know His will;
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. – Romans 12:2
- That we will acknowledge Him and give thanks to Him for all things;
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. – 1 Thessalonians 5:18
- That we should be clean-living and abstain from sexual promiscuity and fornication;
For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: – 1 Thessalonians 4:3
- That we should have good things – now and forever;
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. – Jeremiah 29:11-13
- That we should act as Jesus would have acted in all things;
For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: – 1 Peter 2:15
- That we should turn away from the things of this world and live holy lives;
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. – 1 John 2:16-17
- That we should study His Word to find wisdom;
Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. – Ephesians 5:17
- That we should know and act according to God’s will to enter eternal life in Heaven;
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. – Matthew 7:21-23
- That we should look to God and His Kingdom first and He will take care of the things of this world;
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. – Matthew 6:33
Our Father in Heaven wants each of His children to walk in faith; knowing His will for us and believing His Word. He wants us to come to Him in prayer, knowing His Word, understanding His character, believing His promise, and standing before Him with expectation as a righteous Son or Daughter of God.
Will YOU come to Your Father in faith?
